We process personal data in accordance with the
UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the
Data Protection Act 2018.
By using the website and Services, you confirm that you have read and understood this Policy. Where we rely on your consent (for example, for lesson recordings and their analysis by artificial-intelligence tools, or for marketing), we will ask for that consent separately and you may withdraw it at any time. If you do not agree with this Policy, you should stop using the website and Services.
2. The personal data we collect
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect and process the following categories of personal data:
- Information you provide directly, including but not limited to: first name, surname, gender, mobile phone number and/or email address, marital status, date of birth, home town, address, and photographs.
- Audio and video recordings of lessons, including your voice and image and the voice and image of other participants in the lesson.
- Information collected automatically when you use the Services, including your IP address, cookie information, information about your browser or other software used to access the Services, the time of access, and the address of the page requested.
- Other information whose collection is described in the terms governing a specific Service we provide.
We do not verify the accuracy of the information you provide and rely on you to give us accurate, sufficient and up-to-date information, and to update it when necessary (for example, when your phone number changes).
3. How and why we use your data (purposes and lawful basis)
We process your personal data for the purposes set out below. The lawful basis under UK GDPR is shown for each purpose.
Purpose | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
To identify you as a party to agreements and contracts entered into with us and/or our affiliates | Performance of a contract |
To provide you with goods, services, a non-exclusive licence, and access to the website and Services | Performance of a contract |
To communicate with you, including sending transactional messages when you register or make a payment, and sending notifications and requests | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests |
To send you advertising and/or informational messages (marketing) | Consent (or, where permitted, legitimate interests) |
To review, research and analyse data in order to maintain and improve the Services and develop new features | Legitimate interests |
To carry out statistical and other research based on the data | Legitimate interests |
To control and improve the quality of our educational services, including by recording lessons and analysing those recordings (including automated analysis using third-party artificial-intelligence systems) | Consent |
To comply with legal obligations and to prevent or stop unlawful conduct | Legal obligation; legitimate interests |
Where we rely on
legitimate interests, we have assessed that our interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time (see Section 9).
4. Lesson recordings and analysis by artificial-intelligence tools
To monitor and improve the quality of our educational services, we use third-party artificial-intelligence systems, including
Claude (provided by Anthropic PBC) and
ChatGPT (provided by OpenAI).
We may transfer audio and video recordings of lessons — which may contain, among other things, the voice and image of lesson participants — to these providers for automated analysis. This transfer and processing may take place on servers located outside the United Kingdom (see Section 6 on international transfers). We transfer only the data necessary to monitor the quality of teaching and take reasonable measures to protect it.
Children. Where a lesson participant is a minor, the lesson will be recorded and the recording transferred only where we have the consent of the child's parent or legal guardian.
Your choice. You (or, in the case of a minor, the child's legal guardian) may decline the recording of lessons and the transfer of those recordings to artificial-intelligence systems by contacting us at the email address above. Declining will not affect your ability to receive the educational services themselves.
5. Sharing your data with third parties
We take all reasonable measures to protect your personal data against unlawful access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.
We may give access to your personal data to our employees, contractors and affiliates who need it to operate the website and Services and to provide the Services and goods to you, and to the artificial-intelligence providers described in Section 4.
We may disclose your personal data where required to comply with applicable law, or in response to a valid request from a court, law-enforcement body or other competent authority, or where otherwise permitted by law (including to prevent or stop unlawful conduct).
We require any third party that processes personal data on our behalf to do so only on our instructions and to keep it secure.
6. International data transfersSome of our service providers, including the artificial-intelligence providers named in Section 4, are located outside the United Kingdom. Where we transfer your personal data outside the UK, we ensure an appropriate level of protection by relying on one of the safeguards permitted under UK GDPR, such as:
- a UK "adequacy" determination for the destination country; or
- the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses; or
- another lawful transfer mechanism.
You may contact us for more information about the safeguards in place for a particular transfer.
7. Children's personal data
We take particular care with the personal data of children. Where the Services involve a minor, we collect and process the child's data — including lesson recordings and their transfer to artificial-intelligence providers — only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, and only to the extent necessary. A parent or legal guardian may withdraw consent and exercise the child's data-protection rights at any time by contacting us.
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy any legal, accounting or reporting requirements. When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it.
[Insert your specific retention periods here — for example, how long you keep account data, lesson recordings, and marketing data. This should be set in line with your business needs and legal obligations.]9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Access — to be told whether we process your data and to receive a copy of it.
- Rectification — to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Erasure — to have your data deleted in certain circumstances ("right to be forgotten").
- Restriction — to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Objection — to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time.
- Portability — to receive certain data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, to withdraw it at any time (this does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal).
You can update much of your information yourself using the editing function in your account. You can also ask us to delete the personal data held under your account, although deleting your account may make some Services unavailable.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address in Section 1. We will respond within the timeframe required by law (normally one month).
10. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember your preferences, and analyse how the Services are used. You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where applicable, through our cookie banner.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. The new version takes effect once it is published on the website, unless the new version states otherwise. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
12. Governing law
This Policy and any relationship between you and us arising from it are governed by the laws of
England and Wales.
